Inspiration: A Few More Things Ive Noticed Along the Road So Far
Here's a quote from the late great columnist Sydney Harris that I believe says much about the state of marriage in our culture: "Almost no one is foolish enough to imagine that they automatically deserve great success in any field of activity; yet almost everyone believes they automatically deserve success in marriage." One of the best unexpected blessings of marriage is to count the parents of your spouse among your friends. Certain so called "parenting experts" may be saying the right things. So why do they have to say the right things in such a very wrong way? Three things guaranteed to bring out any "unfinished business" in a family: births, deaths and weddings. From now on, whenever we leave on a family trip, I will choose something to be the "designated item we forgot to pack." I even have a place picked out in the garage to put it the day before we leave. It's myth, perhaps started in the James Dean era, that teenagers have to rebel. They do have to learn how to separate from their family. This is a good thing, unless you want your kids living with you when they are thirty. But they don't have to rebel. The decision to have a child is the decision to have your heart walking around outside of you for the rest of your life. No matter how hard we try not to, as parents we catch ourselves saying the very things we hated hearing from our own parents and swore we would never say to our own children. An old song seems to be the closest thing we have to a time machine. Hearing a favorite song can instantly take you back in time, place, and emotion. No matter what I'm doing, or how very busy I think I am, I just can't resist these six words; "Daddy, will you play with me?" Money or Faith?
I've been to 64-countries, and yes money comes in handy, and goes quickly (and is useful and has its influence), I've had a ton of it at one time or another and an ounce of faith, and I'll take faith any day-why? I'll explain. Anybody who has been in a combated zone, under fire will tell you: '?keep the money, I need faith right now.' In a like manner, when I was in the hospital, had a stroke that paralyzed me, a heart attack also, and bypass surgery, they said I was a Fruitcake. But three days later I got out of bed, and when I did, for three weeks they called me "The miracle of the ward." Even the atheist doctors were spellbound. Money walked away, as faith took over.

Create 10 Delightful Daily Habits
Practising extreme self-care in our life involves practising good "daily" habits.
Daily habits involve more than just exercising and eating right. They include all the things that bring us enjoyment and delight.
Re-Developing Your Vision
One of the most important things we can do for our businesses, schools, and organizations is to have vision. Vision being a clear picture of a desired end result that you are aiming for.
Keeping Your Attitude Up When Circumstances Are Down
Everyone knows that a positive attitude is key to the successful life. But what happens when things go wrong? What happens when circumstances deal us a blow? We have a tendency to let our attitudes take the dive along with our state of affairs. Life deals us setbacks, both minor and major, on a regular basis, but if we are going to be successful, we need to know how to deal with them and keep our attitudes intact! We need practical tools to help us understand how we can go about keeping our attitude up, when the circumstances are down. Here are some thoughts to help us do so:
Energy Work Basics Part 3: The Power of High Intention
At SPIRIT Connections, we believe that the most powerful tool we have when working with energy is our ability to set a high intention. We add the word "high" to intention since we are interested in intentions with a high vibration.
Alone But Not Lonely
In today's fast paced society, we've become accustomed to filling the eeriness of silence with fluff. We turn to many distractions as a means of escaping feelings of idleness or boredom. But the main thing we wish to elude is loneliness. Solitude does not have to alienating or lonesome. In fact, solitude and loneliness are distinctly separate.

Personal Fear of Change and How to Change It!
It's interesting how we intellectually know that tomorrow will be different from
yesterday, or even different from today. We know this based on experience. Wasn't
it only yesterday computers started appearing on people's office desks? And now
today, some of those people who cursed the wretched new things, rage when theirs
or anyone else's computer is down! Tomorrow will not be the same as yesterday. We
know it. And yet, many of us go through change and feel battle fatigue, look worn
out, whine loudly.
The Importance of Friendship
My students and clients have constantly heard me stress that our Martial Art is more than just a physical discipline; that it is a discipline that develops both the mind and body. This is so important that Soke Masaaki Hatsumi, the grand master of our lineages, has made it the primary thrust of just about every one of his books about Ninpo and Martial Arts in general.

The Art of Giving
In the pursuit of the life we dream of, this journey we are on for
successful living, the focus is usually on figuring out what it is exactly
that we want and then setting ourselves on course for going and getting it.
This is very important: Know what you want to get for your life and then
pursue it.
Just a Typical Teenage Boy
Judge not, lest ye be judged. ?Matthew 7:1
Attitude Adjustment
"If you are pained by external things, it is not they that disturb you, but your own judgment of them. And it is in your power to wipe out that judgment now."
The Minds Fancy Dress Party -Or- A Brainstorming Session
In Berlin a restaurant opens for anorexics and in Buffalo a lawyer with a stutter wins a court case. When everything you're working on has gone STALE and your own initially promising concepts are starting to annoy you, you need a brainstorming session to get to the missing bits or generate some new ideas.
Love and Courage
To [many] work is not a gratifying opportunity to do good, but a necessary evil they would gladly forgo if they won or inherited a fortune. It is just a livelihood, a vital drudgery. Its meaning is the paycheck and the value it has in terms of service to their community is indifferent or very subordinate.
How To Weather Lifes Inevitable Storms
In the Northeast, we have a few months to prepare for winter by gathering firewood, securing windows and doors, and getting furnaces cleaned. As with any change, there is always a period of adjustment required. Often change in our lives doesn't occur so predictably.
Thoughts on Loving
Loving. It seems like such a simple concept. But those who have mastered the act of loving are close to non existent. I'm not so much talking about the love between a husband and a wife, a father and a son, or the love between two friends?I'm talking about love in a more general sense. The love that isn't concerned with what it will get in return, for there can be no expectations with this type of love. I'm talking about the love of mankind, the love of people?merely because they are God's, and they deserve to be acknowledged in such a way. The love that I believe Jesus possessed as he walked from town to town, meeting strangers, touching lepers, noticing the unnoticed.
